After completing a successful Pinktober fundraising drive of $15,000 in partnership with the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Westpac is now turning its hand to the Movember initiative.  As with Pinktober, all funds collected in the Movember challenge will be contributed to the Oncology Unit of the CWM Hospital.

Movember is focused on raising funds and awareness of prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health. The ‘Mo Bros’ will grow a new moustache during the month, have ‘before’ and ‘after’ photos taken; and will address communities or their male colleagues about prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health.

Employees will have a chance to win two in-house prizes, with categories comprising ‘Mo Bro with the best moustache’ and ‘Mo Bro that raises the highest funds.’ Mo Sisters of Westpac have the equally important job of supporting their colleagues while helping to promote men’s health within their community.

On Friday 28 November, all Westpac branches will be holding a ‘fun dress Friday’, where Westpac staff will dress in coloured attires and donate money towards the Movember charity, before closing the Movember challenge by participating in the Westpac Health Walk on 29 November, which will take place in eleven locations around the country.

“Westpac is committed to the health and wellness of the communities. We’re proud to have played a lead role in a national awareness health program through the partnership with Ministry of Health, The Physiotherapy Association, since 2011,” said Wayne Beckley, Acting General Manager, Westpac Fiji. “Internally, we are also running our own ‘Heath & Well-being program’ in an endeavour to improve the health of our most important assets – our own people.”
