Brief Background
Fiji Children’s Award is a sub-committee of Vision Fiji. Vision Fiji was started in 1994 by a group of volunteers and it is a registered Non-Government Organization. The primary focus of this NGO is on the welfare of children and their future development as caring and responsible citizens.
Vision Fiji conceived the idea of a national award for children as a way of raising the visibility of children, celebrating their achievements, and promoting national pride. This concept was first put into practice in 2010 with great success and support from both the Government of Fiji and the business community. It is notably and historically the first award of its kind in our nation.
In partnership with our “Champions for Children”, the award aims to reflect the support that the community gives to raising the visibility of children. This Award recognises and acknowledgesexceptional young people in Fiji. It also aims to inspire the same selflessness in other children and members of the wider community. Too often the great deeds of children go unseen, or worse, unrecognized. The time has come to acknowledge that the selfless act of a child is an achievement in itself.
